Traditional Games of Bangladesh

Bangladeshi youth people play some own traditional game in the field what exposure culture. This has mixed with the simple life of the people of Bengali. Some traditional games are:

  1. Kabadi or Hadudu.
  2. Driabanda.
  3. Kanamachi.
  4. Danguli.
  5. Lathi Game.
  6. Akha Dokha.
  7. Bouchi.
  8. Boat race.

Danguli
Danguli is the name of the interesting game of the children of rural area. Little children enjoy method game very much.
Rule:
Generally this game is played in open place so that it is not played in urban area. A 6” Strike is needed to play this game which is called Danguli. It is made of the branch of tree. A 2” length stick is also needed to hit Danguli which is also made of the branch of free. A U shaped hole has to make to keep danguli then it has to throw on the air with the stick and you have to strike on this stick on the air to send it far. From the point where danguli land to the hole the distance has to measure by the stick. Who send danguli so far he will get more point. Here one stick distance = 1 point.
This game can be how many people want. But all players have to throw same number of Danguli.

One of the most popular games in our country for both boys and girls is “Hadudu”, which is actually quite similar to “Kabadi”. It is the national sports in our country.

If there is one game that most people, particularly those within the 20 to 30 age group like to recall with a lot of interest, it is definitely “Shathchara”.

“Iching Biching” is yet another popular game in the rural areas of our country.

Another interesting game in the rural area is “Marble”. It is a game of two or more then two players. A specially marked court is used, which is done on a grass less ground surface.

The girls of today may not be familiar with the game “Kutkut”, but it used to be very popular among both school & college girls even 5 or 6 years back. A box with 8 squares is chalked out.

This various types of Traditional games are familiar in rural area but on the other hand, most of the urban people are not familiar to it.
